Holiday decorations come in a vast variety of forms, from traditional pine to elaborate themes and everything in between. Today our expert contributors have provided us with a bit of do it yourself design inspiration that will help make this holiday festive.
Use music as décor. Take pages from a piano book or print from websites cut into ribbons and fill hurricanes or glasses with the papers. You can spray them with gold or silver spray paint for a gilded effect.
Create interactive tablescapes for kids. Ask your butcher for a large piece of butcher paper to cover the table to create an instant giant coloring sheet. Fill containers with holiday colored crayons and markers to up the color quotient. For inspiration fill little present bags with either pictures of items kids can recreate or words they can use to draw from.
Pick a single item and spray it gold or silver; pinecones, fruits, rocks, leaves, etc. Use them to fill different glass containers and sprinkle around the table.
Nature is cheap, bring it indoors; holly branches, leaves, pine, etc can be strung together to form garland, a table centerpiece mixed with candles, add fruit for pops of color and edible runner.
Use grape leaves/branches to create wreaths in any shape. Peace signs, hearts, bells, etc then string set of inexpensive lights from the drugstore.
