4 Steps to a Sparkling Clean Bathroom

We all enjoy a sparkling clean bathroom. Keeping it clean also involves deep cleaning every once in a while, especially if you want to prepare your home for guests. It’s especially important to rid your bathroom of mold and mildew that is harmful to you and your family. Unfortunately, mold easily thrives in the bathroom because of the humidity and presence of excess water.

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, a 2004 study by the Institute of Medicine found sufficient evidence to link indoor exposure to mold with upper respiratory tract symptoms, cough, and asthma in otherwise healthy individuals. This reason alone is enough to prompt each individual to consider deep cleaning the bathroom on a regular basis.

Keep reading and follow our tips below to achieve a sparkling clean bathroom in no time.

How to Get a Sparkling Clean Bathroom in 4 Steps

Start with the Shower for a Clean Bathroom

Start with the Shower

To deep clean the showerhead, put white vinegar into a grocery bag, and tie in place to soak overnight. While it is soaking, remove the shower curtains and liners and wash them in the washing machine. It would be best to clean them together with some old towels to give them a good scrub. If you have shower doors, rid them of mold and mildew by applying distilled white vinegar mixed with a cup of baking soda. Then, let it sit for an hour before rubbing it clean with a microfiber cloth.

Bathtubs and corners of shower enclosures, when not cleaned on a daily basis, it harbors black mold. Black mold or Stachybotrys Chartarum is highly toxic and must be removed only by a professional. To make sure it is indeed black mold, ask professionals to test it. Professionals from ASAP Restoration advise to protect yourself from contamination by letting a fan run in the affected area to remove moisture and excess humidity.

Clean the Walls

Clean Tiles, Walls, and Ceilings

Clean the tiles, walls, and ceilings (often overlooked!) with an all-purpose cleaner with the shower and hot water on to encourage steam build up. Let this go on for the next five minutes before turning off the water. As soon as the water is off, shut the door on your way out. Then, let the steam and cleaner mix and do their job. Leave it for about 20 minutes. Afterward, wipe all surfaces with a clean cloth. Never forget to dry the ceiling, too. Mop the floor last.

Scrub the Toilet

Pour a cup of baking soda into the bowl and let it sit for a few minutes before brushing and flushing it. If there are still spots present, try using a damp pumice stone. After scrubbing the toilet, don’t forget to clean the toilet brush too. Clean it by pouring bleach over its bristles. In the brush canister, put warm, soapy water, and let it sit for about five minutes before rinsing.

Clean the Bathroom Sink

Charles Gerba, a University of Arizona professor of Microbiology, advises using disposable disinfecting wipes for cleaning the faucet. The use of cloths could only move the bacteria from one spot to another. For the sink, deep clean it with a mixture of white vinegar and baking soda, and pour some down the drain before flushing it with hot water.
