Want to make some memories this summer? Here are some backyard entertainment ideas that will leave you and your guests with an unforgettable experience. Entertaining guests is so rewarding and fun, but first, you have to figure out what you are going to do.

Ask yourself some questions. What age will the guests be? Will there be kids attending? Do you have a large backyard? Once you have your answers, it’s easier to figure out the backyard entertainment ideas that will work for you.

Backyard Entertainment Ideas for Summer 2017

Backyard entertainment pool parties

Pool Parties

Pool parties are a classic entertainment option. They work for both adults and kids. If you don’t have a built-in pool in your backyard, you could always consider installing a temporary above ground pool. It’s a much cheaper option and it’s just as fun. If you are having a party for younger kids, you could set up some type of sprinkler or water slide features.

You can get floaties or pool toys so people can float and tan while drinking something refreshing at the same time. If you have outdoor speakers, this would be the perfect time to use them. Pool parties are guaranteed to be a good time no matter what!

Outdoor Dinners

Who doesn’t love a good barbecue? Whether you have a small charcoal grill or a top of the line outdoor kitchen, you can create a spectacular meal for your guests. You can go the traditional route with hot dogs, burgers, and potato salad, or go all out with something like kebabs or steak, the choice is yours.

If you have an outdoor wood-fired pizza oven, now is the perfect time to use it! Food always tastes better outside with family and friends. You can choose to be in charge of all the food yourself, or you can have a potluck style party where everyone brings side dishes or desserts to share. Get those outdoor speakers out and play some tunes while your guests enjoy a delicious homemade meal outdoors. Add some globe lights for a special touch.

Outdoor Party Games

Outdoor Party Games

The great thing about outdoor party games is that there’s something out there for everyone. Whether you are hosting a birthday party for one of your kids, or just a get together for your adult friends, there are so many fun outdoor games to pick from. Bocce is a very popular one.

Depending on how large your backyard is, you can also get a game of badminton or volleyball going. Installing a temporary net can be very cheap and simple. Some other fun outdoor games include horseshoe or croquet. For younger kids, you can set up some sort of scavenger or treasure hunt. Get creative with the space available in your backyard, and make sure you have some upbeat music playing!

Movie Nights

Backyard Movie Nights

Summer is the perfect time to stay up late and spend time outside after dark. After a hot day, the warm breeze at night can be so relaxing. Movie nights aren’t just for children, they are great for adults too. You can set up an outdoor movie screen projector on your porch or balcony. You could even set it up on the grass.

Place some comfy floor cushions on the ground along with some blankets for your guests if they get cold. Prepare some popcorn and snacks, and get the outdoor speakers ready so everyone can hear the movie perfectly. If there are lots of mosquitoes out, you can install a protective mosquito net around the porch area with the projector. Better yet, if you have a screened porch, this is the perfect event for making good use of it.
