A Guide for Finding Your Personal Style

A Guide for Finding Your Personal Style

Personal Style Tip 1 – Inventory Your Closet

Think about all the clothes in your closet that you feel happy wearing. Pull out your favorite pieces. Think about why you like wearing them. Identify all of the features you see in these clothes. Jot down the commonalities between these pieces. You’ll want to keep these features in the back of your mind when going through the rest of this process. You will be amazed at our your personal style reveals itself and now you will be able to put a twist on it.

Personal Style Tip 2 – Find Your Inspiration

Fashion inspiration is all around us. Yes, you can always look to celebrates for inspiration, but in today’s world of influencers there is a whole lot of inspiration right in the palm of your hand, check these out:

  • Fashion Bloggers
  • TikTok
  • Instagram Fashion Influencers

Let’s not forget about fashion magazines which I always love to search through, the old-fashioned way.

In addition to these sources, draw inspiration from your personal beliefs. If you’re a Christian, for example, let your faith guide your fashion choices. Christianity might inspire you to gravitate toward modest yet stylish Christian apparel, creating a fashion statement that’s not just trendy but also deeply personal and reflective of your values.

Personal Style Tip 3- Create a Mood Board

Mood boards are the perfect way to help you figure out your style. After finding enough inspiration, print or cut out your favorite styles and organize them onto a board. Create a fashion board on Pinterest which will be easy to pull up digitally if you are out shopping for new clothes.

Personal Style Tip 4 – Have a Capsule Wardrobe

A capsule wardrobe should consist of basic pieces like a black dress that can be dressed up or down depending on the occasion. I include jeans as one of my must-haves in my closet because I can create the most trendy outfit by adding a silk blouse and accessorizing it with jewelry.

Jeans can be casual or jazzed up for a girl’s night out. Just choosing a particular style of shoe gives jeans a whole new look and feel. A simple pair of jeans with a pair of flats is a casual look, but imagine a platform heel added to the outfit and it brings a whole other element to the outfit.

Another must-have in your closet is a jacket, blazer, or sweater which you can layer with other things to create many stylish looks. These items allow you to create your unique fashion style.

Experiment With Your Outfits

To create your style, you need to take some fashion risks. This is a fun way to step out of your box and see what feels different and at the same time beautiful. Fashion changes all the time and why not have your personal style morph over time? Everyone can be “a creative” when it comes to fashion, so why not follow some of these tips and see where your style takes you?
