Vintage Design With Today’s Appeal

Incorporating a vintage design into your home can be as simple as finding the right piece of furniture from which you draw your inspiration.  Take a look at the following hand crafted, vintage inspired pieces that could adorn a number of rooms in your home, bringing a nostalgic feel with current appeal to your decor.

Vintage Design Inspiration

The Theodore Alexander brand is synonymous with classical furnishings with a hint of the unexpected. Their designs draw inspiration from original 16th to 20th century pieces, yet speak to today’s lifestyles in ways that excite and entice.

The Midsummer Night’s Dream Sofa is an example of that. It’s a vintage sky blue painted and carved mahogany sofa with flared arms on colonnade supports and square tapering legs. As a surprise, the seat and back are covered in a vintage hand woven carpet that has been bleached and re-dyed in updated colors.

This lady’s dressing table is crafted of walnut veneer and solid mahogany with an arched hand silvered swing mirror above a leather top.  Offset by the two short and one long hand mirror paneled drawers, the serpentine apron between delicate cabriole legs with finely cast brass sabots adds a delicate touch to this vintage design.

A full length mirror made of mahogany and a brass engraved panel, boasts turned supports, swing rectangular mirror, oval plate and verdigris brass paw feet. Add a touch of luxury to your vintage design with this elegant floor standing mirror.

This tan hide covered and leather bound trunk applied with verdigris brass fittings will add an adventurous feel placed at the end of your bed. Who knows what treasures are hidden inside this trunk inspired by vintage design.

Many thanks to Theodore Alexander for supplying us with these fabulous images from their many collections.  They truly give off a vintage appeal that speaks to today’s market for vintage design.
