① Bring More Green Into the Home

I think we can all agree that green is a soothing color and is easy to bring into any interior design. All it takes is a few houseplants and you’ve got green! Also, with all that’s going on in the world, incorporating more green in your home is a perfect idea. It offers greater relaxation and when in the form of plants, cleaner air.

② Keep Appliance Areas Clean and Safe

How often do people actually clean behind or under their appliances? The fact is, dust and debris accumulate and sometimes cause fires. That type of substance is also attractive to pests. So, this year, let’s be diligent about cleaning the spaces we don’t often see. It keeps our homes safer and it gives us peace of mind. That’s something we can all use.

③ Treat Yourself to New Throws and Cushions

Pamper yourself with softness and a touch of color with your favorite throws and cushions. They’re relatively inexpensive and come in lots of shapes and fabrics. They’re also easy to switch out when you want something fresh. Throws and cushions are a warm, comfy, and cozy choice.

④ Try a More Mindful Approach to Your Decor

Being more mindful might be taking the time to save for something you really want instead of buying something less attractive. You might also be ‘resolute’ to finish the projects you start. Slowing down and thinking mindfully is also a good way to eliminate anxiety. So, let’s stop, think, and slow down in 2021.

⑤ Pick One Small Design Change and Do It

We all have design items around the house that are way past their replacement date. So, look around for those ten-year-old drapes or a piece of furniture that you can repurpose into something very special. Even a new shower curtain brings in a special vibe. Another cool and super easy idea is to move decor from one room to the other.

⑥ Install Easy Updates Inexpensively and Quickly

Pull out the screwdriver to quickly and easily change the handles and knobs on your kitchen or bathroom drawers. You can also repair or replace your towel racks and toilet paper holders. Even the switch plates come in a huge variety of styles so you can ‘switch’ those out too.

⑦ Pamper Yourself Shamelessly

Because we’re staying in and staying safe, make your own spa at home and then pamper yourself. Bring out your candles, incense, bathrobes, and thick towels. Turn on the diffusers loaded with your favorite blend of essential oils then lay back and relax. Not only does this relax you, but it also gives you a chance to think about the year ahead and begin making plans.
